It has recently been reported by the Journal of Nutrition that Flaxceed which is rich in lignans and omega-3 fatty acides could be useful in reducing lung inflammation and oxidative stress.
As flaxseed contains high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids and lignans, particularly SDG, which is converted in the colon into enterodoil and enterolactone.
So what's this got to do with hair loss?
Well, there is some evidence to suggest that enterolactone, a phytoestrogen, may have a beneficial effect on bone health, breast health, heart health, acne, inflammation and hair loss with the main focus being for prostate and menopause health, and as an antioxidant.
However, we have yet to discover exactly how this can help with hair loss ourselves so our opinion is "well on the fence" on this one! Watch this space for any updates on the use of flaxseed as a hair loss solution in any form whatsoever. CHL, May 25 2006
