Hair Loss & Straighteners
Question:
I have not experienced major hair loss…its thinning of hair due to the use of a hair dryer and straighteners…I use hair straighteners literally everyday and now after so many years of use my hair seems much thinner than it used to be. Its stilll quite shiny but not thick.
- So are there any hair loss products for me or are they all just for people with hair that is caused by hormonal problems?
- Will it be OK for me to still use hair straighteners whilst using a product like Revivogen?
- Will a product like Revivogen stimulate hair growth or just make the present hair stronger?
Answer:
I don’t think straighteners can actually cause hair loss that easily if used in moderation. However, if used too much though they can damage hair and that in turn could lead to hair loss. Basically, you are heating your hair and that can damage the hair and make it brittle which could lead to hair loss, yes.
If you must use straighteners all the time then please use a good conditioner - preferably a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week, or maybe more if your hair is naturally dry. Make sure you get your hair cut before split ends appear. Also, remember, not all straighteners are the same - the cheapest are probably best avoided - go for a professional quality straightener - talk to your hair dresser - they should know which are the best!
Finally, make sure your hair is completely dry before straightening, make sure it’s totally smooth as possible by brushing with a good brush first - you want your hair tangle free - you don’t want to iron in any tangles!
In regards to the correct product for thinning hair - don’t use anything with alcohol in if you are straightening your hair every day. Personally I would suggest the Thymuskin range of products - the shampoo and cream rinse conditioner would be best for you - you don’t need the Treatment or Med Gel at this point.
You can use most hair loss products as well as using straighteners as well.

That’s really helpful advice. I LOVE my straighteners and I am also suffering from thinning hair.
I will try what you say and also look at maybe some form of vitamin supplement to help too. Any ideas on what should be used?

Hi Vicky, personally I would look at something like Thymuskin or Tricomin instead of thinning hair. I think they are better suited to thinning hair than vitamins - and nice to use too!
