Treat Hair Loss Combat Hair LossIn some instances of hair loss is preventable, and in other cases there are treatments that can be an effective cure.

Some forms of hair loss can be prevented. For instance, traction alopecia is caused by excessive tension on the hair follicle, while improper hair care can lead to breakage which causes diffuse thinning. Hair loss prevention in these cases can be achieved through the avoidance of over colouring, styling or excessive blow drying. Telogen effluvium is another form of hair loss that may be prevented through optimal health and wellbeing.

Most cases of male hair loss and some cases of women’s hair loss are hereditary. Yet even in these cases hair loss can be prevented with the right treatment. In both men and women, inherent hair loss or androgenetic alopecia is caused by the hormonal by-product dihytestosterone (DHT).

There are some hair loss treatments that are formulated to block or inhibit DHT production. This in turn has a positive impact on the life cycle of follicles and can effectively prevent hair loss.

One of the most widely recognised hair loss products that works in this method is Propecia. It is clinically proven, MHRA licensed and FDA approved for the safe and effective treatment of hair loss in men aged over 18.

Women’s hair loss treatments differ in that no DHT blocker has the same assurances of efficacy. However there is another product which does – minoxidil. Though it works differently to Propecia, minoxidil has the clinical evidence to prove effective in the treatment of female hair loss and, with continued use, can prevent hair loss in most cases.
